Reflections from LA Comic Con 2025

When the doors opened at 1 p.m. on Day One of LA Comic Con, the energy shifted instantly. Crowds poured in, and within minutes I was connecting with people drawn to something new: LUCID.

For me, LA Comic Con was not just about setting up a vendor table. It was about validation, proof that my vision connects with a tribe.

Could a new hero like Evan Wheat capture the imagination of fans of storytelling, sci-fi, and fantasy? The answer was unmistakable: yes.

A Proof of Concept

Throughout the weekend, I met people of various age groups, backgrounds, and interests. I asked one simple question: “Are you familiar with lucid dreaming?” Nine out of ten said yes. That shared knowledge created a bridge, making conversations about LUCID both natural and exciting.

When I pitched the story as “Black Panther meets The Matrix meets Inception,” eyes lit up.
People connected the dots immediately:

  • Afrofuturism as a genre
  • Reality-bending as a superpower
  • Lucid dreaming as a multiverse

They didn’t just see a book. They saw the hub of a franchise.

Engaging With the Tribe

What struck me most about Comic Con was engaging with my tribe. I don’t call them fans; I call them my community. Every interaction revealed a shared alignment: the world is ready for a new kind of superhero, and the lucid dreamscape felt fresh and dope.

The true signature moment came when the kids lit up. Whether they were flipping through a coloring book or holding a copy of LUCID, their excitement was unforgettable. One boy’s face lit up as he asked me to sign his copy of the novel. In his joy at seeing a new superhero he could truly identify with, I was reminded why this story matters.

Looking Ahead

Comic Con was more than an event. It was a validation. A proof of concept that the world is ready for LUCID — a new kind of superhero whose journey is about awakening, embracing destiny, and discovering that Life Ultimately Continues in Dreams.

This is just the beginning. With Book Two on the horizon, the webcomic, The Peregrine Nation, in development, and more conventions on the calendar, the movement is only growing.

Tomorrow is bright.

The future is LUCID.
